Genre-hopping original music…
“Her lyrics ring honest and true…They fill up every number with the kind of energy and talent to bring the audience
to its feet…”
—Diane Kaufman, Ott & Murphy Blog
Joann Quintana is a Pacific Northwest singer-songwriter who writes her music from a rural island surrounded by whales, eagles, blueberry farms, artists’ studios AND…water.
Her original tunes are an eclectic blend of driving folk-rock, sly and slinky jazz, folk, boogie, acoustic blues and a little ‘twang.
Lyrics are literate, often playful, and almost always personal: Joann is stuck behind two elderly folks on a winding island road — she ends up writing the jazz tune “Slow Horse.” A #metoo experience becomes the Afro-beat song “Oh Ray.” Her niece’s search for a mate in New York City becomes “Hey Katie, Have You Got A Brother?” Joann writes about her older brother’s death in “Blown to Kingdom Come.”
Joann performs with three talented musicians, and together they make up Joann Quintana Band: Kevin Voigt, bass; Frederick Bryan, keyboard, lead guitar and harmonica; David Malony, drums.
